Why should Arita be your next council member?
Arita built three Kenner companies from the ground up. Her business and financial savvy were profiled in the Wall Street Journal, one of America’s most trusted newspapers. Her strategies in practicing law are always well-planned, and her information is always well-researched. As a mediator, she brings people with opposing views to common ground, a quality sorely needed in the halls of government. She served as a Magistrate and volunteered to deliver inspirational addresses to military personnel. Arita Bohannan was selected by the Louisiana Supreme Court to teach her fellow attorneys the value of professionalism and ethics. She has the skills and savvy to represent our district on the Jefferson Parish council.
ARITA'S PLAN
Continue equipping the district with a state-of-the-art crime camera network that helps our police and deputies solve crimes quickly and deter criminals
Improve our parks and playgrounds to expand recreational opportunities for our families
Support early-childhood education
Secure our fair share of state capital funding for road improvements, drainage upgrades and enhanced flood protection
Work with corporations and small businesses to retain them in our parish, and work with JEDCO to bring more business to our parish.
Continue the widening of major boulevards and thoroughfares, and promote the beautification of major North-South and East-West roadways
Secure remote back-up generators for our district's lift stations
Work with City of Kenner officials to reimagine the now defunct Esplanade Mall and convert it to a multi-use complex of retail and hospitality developments
Transform the lakefront into a vibrant, accessible park venue featuring an outdoor entertainment area, kayak rentals, and boat access by leveraging private-public partnerships, securing grants, and prioritizing environmentally sustainable development practices while using a realistic timeframe and budget
How will she do it?
With her experience as an attorney, Arita will diplomatically fight for each and every dollar she can secure for our district. As an accomplished mediator, Arita will find common ground with the other council members while working to stretch our dollars, ensuring that our district receives its fair share of funding.
As a community leader, Arita knows how important it is to invest in our neighborhoods and public spaces. That's why she's already personally financed the construction of several parks, including the only inclusion park in the state of Louisiana. Moving forward, Arita commits to securing grants and state and federal dollars to fund even more community projects. Arita will continue to work tirelessly to make our district the shining star we all know it can be.
